Tape and Dinosaurs

From the "I thought we would never see that again...." files.

QXTN has recently re-instituted tape backups as a final, last gasp backup methodology after one of our regular risk-analysis session threw some scenarios into play. The increase of ransomware attacks targeted towards SAN and VMware infrastructure has made us reconsider what "always recoverable" actually looks like. Although we have always focused on having more backups than we could possibly ever need and our Disaster Recovery systems include the ability to bring up our entire system in multiple locations, tape backup with offsite secure storage was just a sensible provision to include once again.

So for the first time in over a decade, QXTN is also backing up data to tapes.

It goes to prove, some dinosaurs never die!
